The Community Outreach program offers support to community members in and around Oshikoto region. Support offered includes technical and minimal financial support. Outreach works as an extending arm that take outcome of research carried out by the research and development section to the community. Outreach is therefore running trials on poultry, piggery, and horticulture production within the centre. Trials conducted benefits the centre in two ways as; a) the centre assess viability of projects before extending them to communities b) they (trials) supply hospitality with produces such as vegetables, eggs and meat.
Activities implemented in communities are:
Improved Rural Sanitation - Provision of sanitation facilities to rural community members
Rain Water Harvesting - Provision of rain water harvesting facilities to projects and individuals for the purpose of improving food security at household level
Home Economics - Improving household income through local products such as jam and juice from wild melons and mutete crop
Support from Community to Community - Collecting second hand items from communities for distribution to the needy
